Week 6: The Feather in the Snow

Alex walked along the snowy path, looking at the ground for anything interesting. Suddenly, he spotted something unusual a long, striped feather lying on top of the snow.

He picked it up gently. “Who could this belong to?” he wondered.

A soft hoot sounded from above. Mr. Owl perched on a nearby branch, his golden eyes bright. “A mystery, Alex? The forest is full of them in winter.”

Alex grinned. “I want to find out where this feather came from!”

As he walked farther, he noticed tiny pawprints zigzagging across the snow. He followed them to a small bush, where he heard a faint squeak. Peeking under the branches, Alex saw a little mouse, shivering and tangled in a piece of grass.

“Oh no, you’re stuck!” Alex said softly. He carefully untangled the mouse and set it gently on the snow. The mouse twitched its nose, then darted away, leaving a trail of tiny prints.

Mr. Owl landed beside Alex. “A good friend always helps when they can,” he said.

Alex smiled, feeling proud. He tucked the feather into his pocket and followed the mouse’s tracks. Soon, he reached a clearing where birds flew from branch to branch, and a group of squirrels chased each other, leaping and tumbling in the snow.

Alex watched, laughing as the animals played. The forest felt alive with joy and movement.

He held up the feather. “Maybe it’s a gift from one of the birds,” he said. “Or maybe it’s just a little bit of winter magic.”

Mr. Owl nodded. “The forest is full of gifts, Alex. Sometimes we find them, and sometimes we give them.”

He looked at the feather and thought about all the surprises the forest could bring.
